qc
qc (short for quick calc) is an enhanced Reverse Polish notation (RPN) command line tool designed to assist with quick and dirty calcs.
qc offers enhancements to a traditional RPN calculator including the use of a :
before all operators that pops all items before it off the stack, performs the operation, and pushes the result onto the stack. Examples are included below.
Installation
Pre-built binaries
Pre-built binaries for Linux, macOS, and Windows can be found on the releases page.
You can use the following command to download the latest binary for Linux,
MacOS or Windows, just replace DEST
with the directory where you'd like to
install the qc
binary:
|
Cargo
qc
is written in Rust and can be built from
source and installed with cargo install qc
. To get Rust, use the
rustup installer.
Operations
Binary Operators
add
pops the top two items off the stack, adds them, and pushes the sum onto the stacksub
pops the top two items off the stack, subtracts them, and pushes the difference onto the stackmul
pops the top two items off the stack, multiplies them, and pushes the product onto the stackdiv
pops the top two items off the stack, divides them, and pushes the quotient onto the stack:<binary operator>
pops all previous items off the stack, folds the values of the stack together using binary operator, and pushes the result onto the stack
Unary Operators
.
pops the top item off the stack and prints itpop
pops the top item off the stackendian
pops the top item off of the stack, swaps the endianness, and pushes the result onto the stack:<unary operator>
maps the unary operator over the current stack items
